Waikiki Sport Fishing FAQ’s

  • Think layers. On the ocean, it’s usually 10-20 degrees cooler than it is inland. Conditions can also change rapidly. If you wear layers, you can adjust up and down accordingly.
  • Your entire family over the age of 6 can enjoy a fun day on the water.
  • Whatever you'd like to eat or drink is fine—just no bananas or banana products!

Choose either an exclusive or shared charter and select Half Day, 3/4 Day, or Full Day Charter.

Your fishing includes the service of our courteous captain and crew, rods, reels, tackle, bait and ice. All you need to bring is what you would like to eat or drink, but please no bananas or banana products……seriously.

The Renengade can take a maximum of 6 passengers, including children.

Private Charters are exclusive fishing charters for you and your group.

Our shared charters take up to 6 anglers, typically in groups of 1-3. We assign each angler to a rod by drawing cards as we leave the harbor. After a fish is fought, each angler’s rod moves clockwise to keep things fair, just in case one rod or lure is hot that day.

Half-day trips are 4 hours, 3/4 day trips are 6 hours, and full-day trips range from 8 to 10 hours.

Exclusive Charters: 3/4 and full-day charters depart at a time of your choosing. However, we typically recommend meeting at 5:45 AM and departing around 6:00 AM. Half-day charters depart at either 6:00 AM or 12:00 PM.

Shared Charters: Full-day and morning shared charters meet at the dock at 5:45 AM and depart around 6:00 AM. Afternoon half-day charters meet at approximately 11:45 AM and depart around 12:00 PM.

Absolutely. We will do our best to find some other anglers. If we can’t get some customers of our own, we will do our best to match you up with other anglers on antoher boat in the harbor.

Typically, some of the best days on the ocean, it is raining on the island and nice on the water.

You are welcome to keep half of any fish up to 100lbs. Any fish over 100lbs stays with the boat. Exclusive charters have the option of paying an additional $200 for the right to keep all fish caught on the charter prior to departure. We are agents for Gray’s Taxidermy and offer their taxidermy service that you may keep your trophy fish forever.

Mates or deckhands on the boat make their money by selling fish and receiving tips. It is customary in the charter fishing business to tip the crew. Crew tips in Hawaii are usually 15-20%.
